Behind the Scenes

My sister told me that sometimes she didn't like the fact that she knew someone who had behind the scenes knowledge of Relay. That most people can come out and just have a good time but she got to see first hand all the crazy stuff (some bad, some good) that happened. So I thought maybe you all would enjoy knowing some of the behind the scenes stuff about Relay. So here are just a few.

1.The limo for the cancer survivors canceling at 4:30 the day before Relay

2. Finding 20 tiki torches we were told we could borrow that didn't include the metal containers that hold the torch fuel. Kind of necessary part of the torch don't you think.

3.None of our high school kids showing up to help set up or blow up the hundreds of balloons we needed blown up. (Thank goodness for Jon Haire, Stacey, Susan and Mandy)

4. Huge jug of ice water spilling in the back seat of my car. Still smells musty in there.

5. My laptop falling off a chair and shattering my wireless card into pieces-Biff was OK he didn't even get mad when I told him

6. Lindsy calling to tell me that the DJ thought our event was the previous Wed night and he had another booking on Friday and couldn't be there until midnight. That was OK considering he wasn't supposed to be there until midnight anyway. What organization has an all nighter on a Wed night.

7.UCO not taking down the little blue sidewalk barriers and 2 of the grounds guys glaring at me every time I ran over one.

8. UCO security claiming they didn't know anything about us being on campus that night. (Stacey was cced on an e-mail to them so we know they screwed up)

9. UCO security yelling at people to move their cars off the sidewalks when we were told we could drive on them to unload. Mandy took over when security got tired of yelling.

10. Team Captain yelling at me for telling her she could move her car up further the sidewalk.

11. UCO coming and removing all mikes and disconnecting our sound system 15 minutes before opening ceremonies. Still don't know why that happened. Thank goodness for good friends who somewhat know their way around a sound system and the OC summer singers for leaving us a couple of mikes.

12. The Girl Scouts and Brownie for getting ready to rumble over who was going to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

13.The Food chick sending her mother over to chew out me, Stacey and Mandy. Now we know where the food chick got her winning personalityilty.

14. My brother and I making total fools out of ourselves on stage lip syncing to Prince's Let's Go Crazy while Tonya and Andrew are dirty dancing. The good news is that Steve is still married after Jama witnessed him dancing on stage.

15. A lady fighting over a chair with a little boy during musical chairs at 3 in the morning which resulted in her going to the emergency room to get three stitches in her finger.

16. 8:00 the next morning Tonya ticking off the food chick again by joking about how the food chick really got the food. Don't sweat it Tonya we all know deep down you were probably right.

Overall it was a great Relay and probably one of the funnest Relay's I think Edmond has ever had. Good job team, but you are on your own next year!

By the way, we raised over $78,000 for the American Cancer Society. Not too shabby if you ask me.
