You Have The Right To Remain Silent

Isaac has been in KS visiting Meme and Papa Shoe for a few days all by himself. Last night I went with my sister to our usual ½ way pick up point to meet them and bring him home.

We were sitting at McDonalds and Isaac is jumping around and taking non-stop about all the things he had done while at Meme and Papa’s and all of the sudden he stops, drops down onto the booth seat, assumes the fetal position and repeats over and over again that he is ready to go.

So what happened at McDonald’s in Perry to scare him so bad? 6 policemen.

That’s right for some reason my 3 year old nephew is scared to death of policemen. This is not the first time something like this has happened. We tried to tell him policemen were nice and surly he wasn’t ready to leave without eating his cookies. His response to that, while still hiding, was that he was ready to go and would eat his cookies in the van.

Since the first police incident (which surprisingly enough was at a McDonalds), we keep trying to think of what a 3 year old could have possibly done to make him think that the cops are out to get him. Was it battery for pushing another kid at the playground? Was it for speeding from driving his little John Deere tractor to fast? What?

My mom decides to take matters into her own hands, so she told Isaac that policemen were nice and that they probably had little boys like him at home. She persuades him to go with her and they proceed to ask each of them if they have little boys at home.

Isaac came back to the table with a police badge sticker and a big smile on his face and my mom came back knowing that 2 out of the six were single. That information she said was for me.
