The Power of Money

A law firm is moving in the 3rd floor of our building. They are taking the entire third floor so it took them 10 semi’s and an entire weekend to move. It only took us 4 semi’s and 1 day to move. Today the real show happened. Apparently one of the lawyers has a rather large piece of equipment that is too large for the elevator and to large to carry up the stair and around corners. Therefore, a gigantic crane showed up parked out back and they are air lifting this piece of equipment up to the third floor and through his balcony door. Anyone know off the top of their head how much it costs to bring in a big crane to air lift one piece of furniture? I don’t, but I know if it was me the big guy would have driven to the nearest Office Depot and bought me something smaller that would fit in the elevator or could be carried up the stairs.

This also made me think about this show I was watching last night on the Discovery Channel about a couple who was buying a small twin engine airplane. They were meeting with various airplane brokers trying to find the plane that would fit their needs the best. It was cracking me up listening to them talk about these airplanes. The man and the lady were not married but they had 4 little girls. So they were looking for a plane that would be able to transport a family of 6 wherever they needed to go. The type of plane they were looking at cost anywhere between $500,000 and $700,000. Wow! My favorite line was from the man that said this was their way of committing to each other without having to actually say or do the “M word”. I guess it didn’t matter that they had 4 kids together but by golly we will stay together if we invest in a $700,000 airplane.
